Problem-Solving (Eight Discipline) is a step-by-step problem-solving
methodology popularized by Ford Motor Company. With the 8-D
problem-solving process (or Global 8-D as Ford calls it), teams
address and solve problems by uncovering and eliminating the root
cause of the problem.
8-D
Training can be time consuming and difficult to develop. It
requires teaching the 8-D problem-solving process as well as data
collection and analysis tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone
diagrams, and flowcharts to name just a few. With 8-D
Problem-Solving training employees can learn how to use the 8-D
Problem-Solving Process at a time and place that is convenient, yet
at the same time they will be fully prepared to serve on an 8-D
problem solving team when assigned to their first project.
